I have always adored graceful movement and was a ballet dancer until my early teens. As life moved on and I grew older, I hit the gyms, took up running, and have tried most other forms of exercise not particularly enjoying any of it but knowing it was a necessity. I sailed through my first pregnancy, however, a few years on I found my second pregnancy incredibly difficult. I suffered many ailments throughout, but nothing could have prepared me for the long and difficult labour I endured and the continued issues I suffered post-natal.
It is fair to say that my body felt broken!
I began work with a personal trainer at 4 months post-natal and I couldn’t even manage a single sit up due to weaknesses in lumbar spine and abdominals. After working with her for a year and regaining my pre baby weight and strength she encouraged me to sign up to a Pilates class as she believed I could really benefit from it to ease my conditions.
I took her advice and I have never looked back. The difference Pilates made to my body was life changing and made me feel “normal” again. I could see and more importantly feel the benefits both physically and mentally. I was quickly hooked and decided Pilates was something that had to be part of my life forever and so I embarked on a training programme with Body Control Pilates and after extensive work and supervised teaching hours I qualified as a Level 3 Body Control Pilates teacher.
I am continuing my education to learn and expand my knowledge in order to help people of any age and ability improve their fitness, posture and core stability and have more recently qualified to teach pregnancy and post natal Pilates for which I have a personal interest in.
I am located in the beautiful village of Matching Green but welcome people from all surrounding areas including Hatfield Heath, The Rodings, Harlow and Bishops Stortford.
I hope my story has given you the inspiration to try it for yourself!
